METRONIDAZOLE INFUSION

Indications:

Metronidazole is an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drug that is effective against parasites and certain bacterial infections. It was first used to deal with parasitic infections, such as intestinal and liver amebiasis, but also to treat gynecological trichomonas infection, skin parasitic diseases and so on. It was later found to be particularly effective against anaerobic bacteria, which are common in periodontal infections, gynecological inflammation or post-surgical infections.

Adverse Effects:

Common adverse reactions are gastrointestinal discomfort, such as nausea, vomiting, inability to eat, and stomach pain, which usually do not need to stop taking the drug. Many people will have headaches, dizziness, numbness in the hands and feet, walking instability, if the amount of medicine is large, it may also cause cramps.

Drug Interactions:

Do not use with drugs and drinks containing alcohol. This product can inhibit acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, block ethanol metabolism, resulting in disulfiram reaction, so during the use of the drug and within 1 week of withdrawal, do not drink alcohol and alcoholic beverages.

Precautions & Warning:

Metronidazole has the methiotetrazole side chain, and drinking (or contact with alcohol) during metronidazole use can cause disulfiram reaction, which may cause abdominal pain, vomiting, headache and other symptoms. Therefore, do not drink alcohol during medication.

Use in Pregnancy and Nursing Mothers:

Pregnant and lactating women: Avoid using. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, inform your doctor and ask for advice on the best treatment option.

Treatment/antidote in The Event of Overdose:

At present, there is no specific antidote for this drug, and in the event of overdose, it is necessary to seek medical attention in time and give symptomatic and supportive treatment.
