LOPERAMIDE HYDROCHLORIDE CAPSULE

Indications:

Loperamide is mainly used in the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea. It can bind to the opioid receptors in the intestinal wall, inhibit the release of acetylcholine and prostaglandins, thereby reducing pusher peristalsis and increasing intestinal transport time. In addition, it can enhance the tension of the anal sphincter, thereby reducing fecal incontinence and urgency.

Contra-indications:

Should not be used if allergic to this product;
Contraindication in patients with intestinal obstruction, constipation, flatulence or severe dehydration;
Contraindicated in acute bacillary ulcerative colitis with high fever and pus, blood and stool;

Adverse Effects:

Adverse reactions were mild, including rash, pruritus, dry mouth, abdominal distension, nausea and loss of appetite. Occasionally, drowsiness, lethargy, dizziness, vomiting, constipation, gastrointestinal discomfort, and allergic reactions are seen.

Precautions & Warning:

Diarrhea patients often appear water and electrolyte disorders, should be properly supplemented.

Use in Pregnancy and Nursing Mothers:

Use during pregnancy is classified as Class B (possibly safe), although this product does not have teratogenic effects and embryonic toxicity, but pregnant women, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy, should still weigh the advantages and disadvantages of use.
Lactation drug classification is L2 (safer), this product can be secreted in breast milk in a small amount, breastfeeding women should not use this product.

Treatment/antidote in The Event of Overdose:

Overdose may cause drowsiness, constipation, muscle tension, constriction of the pupil, slow breathing and other toxic symptoms. Naloxone can be used to detoxify the patient, and the patient should be observed for at least 48 hours in order to find the inhibition of the central nervous system in time.
